2018 Rouge, Vaucluse "Le Canebier" (Ligiere, Domaine La)

Domaine La Ligiere, Vaucluse Rouge "Le Canebier", Rhone Valley, France 2018

{biodynamic} 50% Grenache, 50% Syrah

This newly-named cuvée from Domaine La Ligière is perhaps not as unfamiliar as it first appears. Replacing the “Sud Absolu” Rouge, it continues in that wine’s (and this series of wines’s) tradition of championing the often-less lauded Carignan grape True to form, it exudes the impressive garrigues and dense, dark fruit that we expect from the variety, the Vaucluse department, and Ligière, itself. Tempered by its often better-behaved colleague, Syrah, it's an absolutely beautiful addition to any adventurous dinner table.

Serving Suggestions: Juicy brisket rubbed w/ rosemary & thyme. Ratatouille w/ eggplant, tomato, squash, & garlic (or perhaps eggplant parmesan).
