This medium to full-bodied red comes off as a delightful collision between the food-friendly archetypal reds of central Italy (starring Niellucciu which is, after all, Sangiovese) and the fleshier fare of Provence and the Southern Rhone. Brimming with vigorous violet fruit and savory spice, there’s plenty to latch onto as an intriguing sipper, but there’s even more reward in enjoying this with hearty Mediterranean fare.
