Meinklang, Hárslevelü "H15," Somlo, Hungary 2015INTENSELY FLORAL, TONGUE-TINGLING ACIDITY & SPICE, MINERAL BACKBONE Hárslevelü is best known for its role in the production of Tokaji, the famous dessert wine of Hungary, where it plays second fiddle to the better-known Furmint grape. In this instance, the biodynamic wizards of Meinklang grow their Hárslevelü in the volcanic soil of Somló in Northwestern Hungary and give it a starring role. This wine is unabashedly floral, allowing the grape to live up to its name, which translates to "linden leaf" in Hungarian. Densely-bodied, reminiscent of ripe stone fruit, and backed by a trio of high acidity, wild spice, and firm minerality, it is simultaneously impressive and friendly. Serving Suggestion: Sticky rice w/ NC shrimp, green chile oil, mustard greens, kimchi, & soft-boiled egg. Peruvian charcoal-roasted chicken with spicy cilantro-mayo and black beans.
