2016 Rioja Blanco "Mi Villa" (Perica, Bodegas)

Bodegas Perica, "Mi Villa" Rioja Blanco, Rioja, Spain, 2015

95% Viura, 5% Malvasia

FRAGRANT, FLORAL & FRESH - BETTER THAN SPANISH DAISIES!

Green apple/golden colored in the glass, hinting at the goodness inside, Mi Villa Blanca shows great crisp flavors of lime, grapefruit, guava, melon and almond. Surprisingly rich for such a light bodied grape. It's the Malvasia that adds the floral notes and weight to the wine. Very refreshing and easy to drink.

Serving Suggestion: Bacon wrapped scallops seared in rendered bacon fat over orzo with roasted garlic bits through out.

2014 Rioja Blanco "Olagosa" (Perica, Bodegas)

Bodegas Perica, "Olagosa" Rioja Blanco, Rioja, Spain, 2014

{organic} 100% Viura

PERFUMY NEW OAK, MOUTHWATERING GREEN APPLE ACIDITY

Fermented and aged for three months in French oak barrels, this ambassadorial wine represents both the decadent mystique of traditional white Rioja and a modern freshness that is quite contrary to its predecessors of bygone generations. This is green apple dressed up with subtle layers of Sherry-reminescent yeastiness and suavely delicious creamy oak. Bodegas Perica never fails to impress us with its knack for bringing the traditional styles and flavors of Rioja into the 21st century, preserving those classical flavors that we crave while adding a modern twist.

Serving Suggestion: Hearty chicken stew w/ garbanzos, onion, and parsley. Fried conch w/ basil and copious amounts of garlic & butter.

2008 Rioja Blanco Crianza "Vina Gravonia" (Lopez de Heredia)

Lopez de Heredia, ViƱa Gravonia Blanco, Rioja, Spain 2008

100% Viura

NUTTY, FLORAL AND GRASSY FINISHING WITH SPICE

There are few wines in the world more inspiring and more thought provoking than this bottle. Sourced from a single vineyard originally called Zaconia alongside the Ebro river in Rioja, and produced in the most traditional manner, this is THE definition of "Old School." Yes, there is some oxidation going on evidenced by the golden amber color, but this is part of the appeal. Waves of nuttiness, grass, flowers and spices come and go with each sip. The wine evolves over all 750 mls. No two sips will be the same.

Serving Suggestion: Mild, tender veal with roasted red peppers. Traditional hard aged cheeses. Or on its own in a quiet place to think about what you were doing ten years ago.
