Even Petit Verdot, which is typically found in the vineyards of the Left Bank makes an appearance, well suited to the hot dry conditions east of the Cascades.

This compelling combo of Merlot (predominantly) and Alicante Bouchet (the black-fleshed bruiser offspring of Grenache) more than manages to be Tuscan totale in temperament. Even sans Sangiovese, there’s an unmistakable aura that wouldn’t be out of place in Brunello. Its lack fruit gusto gracefully leaves plenty of room in the mix for distinctively Etruscan rusticities and elegant, herbaceous undercurrents shine through.
