Corsica’s Domaine Vico, rising 400 meters above sea level, represents the innermost viticultural enterprise of the island. Established on the first year of the 20th century, the estate is occupied by a who’s who cast of local grape varieties which are, perhaps unsurprisingly, shared by Tuscany, Sardinia, and southeastern France (albeit frequently under different aliases). This white represents Vermentino firing on all cylinders and at its most expressive. White fruit, delicate flowers, and a sandy minerality reminiscent of ocean breeze combine to cement this beauty as summer in a bottle...

This medium to full-bodied red comes off as a delightful collision between the food-friendly archetypal reds of central Italy (starring Niellucciu which is, after all, Sangiovese) and the fleshier fare of Provence and the Southern Rhone. Brimming with vigorous violet fruit and savory spice, there’s plenty to latch onto as an intriguing sipper, but there’s even more reward in enjoying this with hearty Mediterranean fare.
