2014 Margaux (Dame de Malescot, La)

La Dame de Malescot, Margaux, Bordeaux, France 2014

Hailing from Grand Cru Classé estate Chateau Malescot St-Exupery, part of the famous 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it shouldn't be a surprise that this Cabernet and Merlot blend delivers power and elegance in perfect balance. The old saying about the wines of Margaux is that they are an "iron fist in a velvet glove," soft and velvety on the outside but strong and firm at the core and that certainly rings true here. The estate's history dates to 1616, and was once owned by Louis XIV's attorney-general, while the Zuger family has presided over this estate since the 1950s.
