Produced biodynamically with love and a defiantly quality-over-quantity approach, the “Mezzanotte” is one of Lisa Gilbee’s profoundly Puglian offerings of Primitivo. An Australian native, she settled in Italy just over two decades ago and, after working as a winemaker both there and abroad, began Morella in 2004, naming the estate for her Italian husband. She’s fallen in love with the local Primitivo grape and with her vineyards, consisting of low-yeilding bush vines located less than two miles from the Ionian Sea. Balanced yet intensely concentrated with dried berryish fruit and peppery spice. Classic!

Serving Suggestion: Wood-fired pizza w/ ricotta, sausage, & basil. Coconut soup w/ rice vermicelli, cilantro, & ginger.
