2016 Crozes-Hermitage Blanc "Les Charmeuses" (Mucyn, Domaine)

Domaine Mucyn, Crozes-Hermitage Blanc "Les Charmuses," Northern Rhone, France 2016

60% Marsanne, 40% Roussane

WHITE FLOWERS, ALMONDS, AND DRIED FRUIT; RICH YET BEAUTIFULLY BALANCED

Domaine Mucyn’s Crôze-Hermitage Blanc is an enmiga: astonishingly rich yet undeniably bright. No surprise from the husband and wife team of Jean-Pierre and Hélène Mucyn. He handles the vinification, while the vineyard is her domain. Talk about balance. This cuvée opens up with a bouquet of white flowers and chamomile tea, leading to dried apricots and toasted almonds. A regular stirring of the lees (bâtonage) by Jean-Pierre during the winemaking lends a rich mouthfeel to the finished product. This wine has more charm than a Pandora bracelet!

Serving Suggestion: Trout almandine or seared scallops w/ brown butter sauce. Goat cheese rolled in herbs de Provence is another natural pairing!
