2011 Pessac-Leognan Rouge (Mancedre, Chateau)

Chateau Mancedre, Pessac-Léognan Rouge, Bordeaux, France 2011

{sustainable} 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot

CONCENTRATED CASSIS & BLACK PLUM, ELEGANT EARTHINESS, GRAPHITE-LIKE MINERAL NOTES

Chateau Mancedre's Jean Trocard describes his estate's recent history simply: "It is the story of a rebirth." Having been destroyed by the notoriously icy conditions of Bordeaux's 1956 winter, his grandparents vineyards lay desolate for decades until Trocard and his wife, Bénédicte, stepped forward to breathe new life into them. Led by Cabernet Sauvignon, this bold ambassador of the gravely soils of southwestern Bordeaux brims with hallmark flavors of cassis, black plum, and an earthy/herbaceous collaboration with dark minerality. Magnifique!

Serving Suggestion: Roast beef w/ savory Swiss chard, garlic, walnuts, & dried currants.
