Matteo and Luca Garberoglio are the genial, laid-back fellows behind the 85 year-old Carussin estate, where they spend their days brewing beer and hanging out with donkeys. Oh, and making incredible wine. This powerful Barbera is an homage to the noble donkey, the raising of which has been a passion for Matteo and Luca's mother Bruna for decades. Mostly complex, leathery red fruit reminiscent of a glaze or reduction, the wine gains a bit of edginess while remaining juicy, gulpable, and all around delightful. Get your donkey on!

Serving Suggestion: Juicy burgers with swiss cheese & caramelized onions, pizza with artichoke and hot pepper, game (like venison or boar) w/ a dark fruit glaze.

Our favorite donkey has returned from the Ferro family farm in Asti carrying a care package of lovely liter bottles. Arriving just in time for summer, this zesty red blend is refreshing and (potentially a little too?) easy to drink without coming off as exactly light or lean. Biodynamically farmed from chalk and clay-based vineyards, this quartet of signature Piemontese grapes gets along splendidly, finding a beautifully balanced combination of generous fruit, herbaceous spice, vibrant acidity, and invigorating tannic texture. TAKE ME TO YOUR LITER!

Serving Suggestion: Crispy pizza w/ pesto & sundried tomato. Pork tenderloin marinated in olive oil, & Growers & Cooks chicken stock.
