A blend featuring three of Alentejo’s most prominent grapes, Aragonez (Tempranillo), Syrah, and the famously red-fleshed offspring of Grenache commonly known as Alicante Bouschet, this stunning value from the increasingly fashionable southern reaches of Portugal is both distinctive and almost universally applicable as a "house red" for all seasons. The ripeness and intensity of fruit remain tempered with healthy acidity which insures refreshment and food-friendly versatility. Encore!

This is a truly exciting find for its bold, flavorful generosity and depth. Adventurous wine-lovers and geeks will also relish the opportunity to taste rich, ripe Petit Verdot at a very rare 40% concentration. In this cuvee it appears with fellow-French expats Alicante Bouschet and Syrah along with Spain’s Tempranillo (three of southern Alentejo’s most important varietals). The seemingly odd blend works well bringing complex highs and subtle lows to this blustery bang-for-the-buck bombshell!

Representing a somewhat more modernist slant on the classically dark and elegantly rugged unfortified reds of the Douro valley, Lua Cheia's "Andreza" is named for a particularly stunning bend among the region's otherworldly (and very steep) vineyard-scape. The typical purple-black fruit and mouthfilling majesty are still very much in play, but the stern structure and dusty earthen tones which often populate these wines have been resculpted into something a bit more creamy and cosmopolitan. A delicious twist!

Serving Suggestion: Red-wine marinated roast pork loin w/ garlic, shallots, & white beans. Tender Moroccan stewed goat w/eggplant puree & lemony boiled potato salad.
