2013 Chianti Colli Fiorentini (Lucignano, Fattoria di)

Fattoria Lucignano, Chianti Colli Fiorentini, Tuscany, Italy, 2013

80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 10% Merlot and Colorino

ROASTED NUT, BARK SPICE & BLACK CHERRY

This subzone of Chianti is called Fiorentini because of its proximity to Florence. However, the estate's vineyards are just a few hundred feet from becoming Chianti Classico. The estate is run by widow Countess Antonella Guicciardini with a traditional and classic approach. The wine is made and aged in cement tanks - very old school! With no oak to speak of, this Chianti is smooth and tastes of black cherry, coffee and roasted nuts with fruit cradled by new saddle leather.

Serving Suggestion: Pasta dishes, forget the tomato and go with olive oil, garlic, basil and bits of Giacomo's sweet dry sausage. Also great with medium aged cheeses, not too sharp.
